We have shown here a chart that illustrates the effect of using different axle ratios, to engine and road speeds.
Althought the data is calculated for a Bentley R Type using 6.50 x 16 Michelin tyres it is also a useful guide for other Bentley S1, S2 and S3 models. Although these later cars run 15 inch tyres, given their width ratio, the tyre operating radius is not significantly different.
